My biggest frustration was trying to figure out how to lose weight alone; online programs seemed too remote, empty, and cold; weight loss programs and experts seemed more focused on profits than on me, and I felt judged when I didn’t achieve the results they expected. Not only did I become afraid to ask for help, but I also felt exploited, ashamed, and marginalized.
Christen is a rare coach – she loves both the science and the art of coaching, as well as the process and the participant. Instead of making it about the pressure of reaching a particular body weight or size, we worked together to identify underlying beliefs that kept me stuck, hurting, and feeling “less than.” Her affirmation tool literally changed the wiring of my brain; it helped me overcome the unconscious thoughts that drove my old behaviours by intentionally choosing new thoughts to drive my feelings and actions.
Christen consistently showed up for me, and I felt her care, compassion, and commitment. I left every session feeling healed, heard, and uplifted.
Thanks to Christen’s coaching, I experienced a significant weight loss yes, but more importantly, I can look back on how I got there with joy and calm, not with stress and judgment. Another tangible result is that I was able to step into and accept a wider variety of people to laugh, think, and heal with. Their energy inspires healthy eating and more movement. And because I am happier with that increased connection, I can take time to do something by myself without experiencing the need to overeat or “hibernate” because I feel abandoned or alone.
I’ve finally replaced my inner critic with a compassionate witness who watches out for, soothes, and guides me.
